How To Measure Your Finger At Home

Method 01

The Paper Wrap Method

Ideal for finding circumference.

  1. Cut a thin strip of paper or non-stretching string (about 10cm long).
  2. Wrap it snugly around the base of your finger. Ensure it slides comfortably over your knuckle.
  3. Mark the exact spot where the paper/string overlaps.
  4. Lay the paper flat and measure the length in millimeters. This is your circumference. Convert it using our calculator.

Method 02

The Existing Ring Method

Ideal if you have a ring that fits perfectly.

  1. Select a ring that fits the exact finger you wish to size.
  2. Use a ruler to measure the inside diameter of the ring in a straight line across its widest point.
  3. Ensure you only measure the inside empty space, excluding the metal band thickness.
  4. Note the measurement in millimeters and compare it to our diameter conversion chart.

Professional Sizing Tips

🌡️

Consider the Temperature

Fingers shrink in the cold and expand in the heat. For the most accurate result, measure your finger at the end of the day when it is warm.

📿

Account for Your Knuckle

If your knuckle is significantly larger than the base of your finger, measure both areas and choose a size mid-way between the two.

📏

Band Width Matters

Wider ring bands (6mm or more) fit tighter than thinner bands. If you plan to buy a wide band, we recommend ordering half a size larger.

🔄

Measure Multiple Times

Measure 3 to 4 times on different days to ensure consistency and eliminate errors due to water retention or temporary swelling.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the average ring size for women and men?

For women, the average ring size ranges from US 5 to 7, with US 6 being the most popular. For men, the average size ranges from US 8 to 10.5, with US 9 being the most common size.

What if my measurement falls between two sizes?

If your measurement falls between two sizes, we always recommend sizing up. It is much easier to resize a ring down or wear a small ring adjuster than it is to stretch a ring that is too small.

Can all rings be resized?

Most gold and platinum rings can be resized easily. However, rings with diamonds wrapping entirely around the band (eternity bands) or rings made of alternative metals like tungsten, titanium, or cobalt cannot be resized due to structural integrity.

Do you offer resizing?

Yes, The Ever Jewels offers one free ring resizing within 30 days of purchase for most standard engagement and wedding rings. Please contact our support team to arrange this.
